A person seeking to be licensed as a court interpreter must, prior to filing an application with the department, satisfactorily complete a department approved orientation course of at least six hours.
Working interpreters who are preparing to take the State Licensing exam, as well as anyone who is aspiring to become a Court Interpreter and wants to know what it all entails.
The class is NOT language-specific, so ALL LANGUAGE PAIRS ARE WELCOME!

This court interpreter course will give you an overview of the knowledge and skills needed for courtroom interpreting, as well as a review of the ethics necessary for Judiciary Interpreters, some basic legal terminology and an overview of the Texas law enforcement, corrections and courts systems.

After you have completed the 6 hours of orientation, you will receive an E-Certificate that you will be able to send in to the JBCC along with the remaining required documentation for the application.
Cancellation policy: a 20% processing fee will be charged to all cancellations made up to 48 hours before the class. Cancellations done up to 24 hours before the class are subject to a 75% cancellation fee. No refunds after that time. No-shows will have the opportunity to attend a future class at no additional cost (no refund).
